Thu, 12/28/00 | Harbor Cruise in afternoon! | Moira and Jim left at 11:30am. Big send off! |
Well, today Moira and
Jim's visit was coming to a close - everyone piled into two cars and Ty's '57 Chevy truck
and headed for the airport. It was sad to see Mo and Jim leave so soon, but we sure
enjoyed their company and contribution to the family celebration! There was lots of
camaraderie on the way to the airport and when we all got to the carpark, we set a new
"world" record... TWELVE of us piled on to the airport shuttle cart! What
a hoot. Then we all went right up to the gate with Moira and Jim and gave them big
hugs and lots of love as we waved them onto their plane. Next the remaining 14 of us took off on a cruise of San Diego's harbor (thank's Dad!). First we got some quick refreshments: juice and biscotti! Then we enjoyed the ocean breeze on the boat, listened to the informative narrative by the Captain and saw seals, Navy ships, the Coronado bridge, the Star of India (the world's oldest active sailing ship!) and of course the San Diego skyline. A good time was had by all. We'd built up an appetite so stopped at Anthony's Fish Grotto for fish and chips (thanks Mum!). It was super busy and was quite a production to get 14 orders together. There wasn't exactly that many seats available together either! So, Ty found us a lovely private patio all to ourselves (belonging to a neighboring restaurant that wasn't open during the day!)... tee hee, what fun. We drove around to a few stores, ran some errands then had a pleasant evening at home. |
"Ahoy there mateys!"
Star of India - the oldest active sailing ship in the world!
Woah, it's high up there! 7' Lee!
